Referrals
|
|
We welcome referrals of children in need of assessment, short or permanent foster care from local authorities around the country. Referrals can be made by telephone, and at the time of referral indication will be given as to whether or not we will be likely to be able to help. All referrals are kept on file, and we are continually increasing the number of foster carers joining Orange Grove Fostercare, thus should a suitable vacancy arise soon after referral, we can get back to the referring social worker in order to discuss the possibility of placement.
Whilst we welcome referrals of children from around the country, our geographical area of operation in terms of locality of foster carers is based on seven defined regions:
- East Yorkshire
- West Yorkshire
- Shropshire
- Staffordshire
- North West
- Three Counties
- Three Shires
By keeping to this area of operation we are able to provide an excellent comprehensive support service to all our carers which is so crucial to successful outcomes.
Prior to any child joining one of our families, an Orange Grove Fostercare inter-agency contract must be signed, and copies of this and our fee structure in full are also available upon request.
It is our policy to involve our carers fully in the referral process and ultimately the decision as to whether a child will be offered a placement rests with the foster family and not the agency. By adhering to this policy our carers are not therefore under any pressure to accept a child whom they do not feel comfortable in offering a home to, and thereby placements that are made are more likely to have successful outcomes.
