Orange Grove Fostercare specialises in offering nine types of placement:
Emergency Placements
We offer emergency placements of up to seven days with foster carers who are able to accept unforeseen emergency placements for individual young people.
Assessment Placements
We offer assessment placements with foster carers who are skilled and experienced in this type of placement. Such placements are subject to a monthly review, with a planning meeting taking place after approximately six weeks. It may be appropriate at times for young people who have been through our assessment process to transfer into one of our permanent placements. A full written report is provided to the placing agency upon the completion of the assessment.
Short-Term Placements
We offer short-term placements of up to two year duration with foster carers who are skilled and experienced with this type of placement. In all cases monthly reports are provided for placing agencies along with other appropriate recording.
Bridging Placements
These placements can be for a child or young person who has an identified permanent placement but are unable to be placed as such due to complicated legal matters.
Permanency
We offer permanent family placements with our skilled and experienced carers. It is our aim to provide a home into adulthood, should the young person require it, and we never like to lose contact with those who have grown up in our care. Where appropriate, we welcome the opportunity to offer permanent family placements to young people who have had assessment or short-term placements with us. In all cases monthly reports are provided for placing agencies on the progress of young people in placement.
Solo Placements
We offer solo placements with foster carers who are available to take young people whose needs are so complex, thus requiring a higher level of support and supervision. This precludes the placement of any other young person within the fostering household. If requested, and by arrangement with the placing authority, additional support services can be made available.
Parent and Child Placements
We offer solo placements with foster carers who are available for a parent (usually a mother) and their child, where foster carers can provide support to a parent developing their parenting skills. Additional training will be provided for these foster carers to enable them to assess the parent’s ability to care for their child.
Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Young People
We offer placements with foster carers who are able to accept young people who are deemed to be unaccompanied asylum seekers, where their residency status within the UK is yet to be determined. Our Agency is able to provide additional training for foster carers offering this service.
Respite Placements / Children with Disabilities
We offer respite placements to children and young people on a short term basis. This could be for a few weeks, weekend or on a day basis. Respite care can provide temporary care for a child or young person with a disability giving a break to those who normally care for them. This can benefit parents, carers and children. It gives children with special needs the chance to develop new friendships and enjoy new experiences.
