Foster Carer Support |
|
Recognising how crucial support (or the lack of it) can be to successful outcomes in foster care, Orange Grove Fostercare is totally committed to providing a support service to our foster carers which is both extensive, helpful, and under constant review as to how improvements may be made. Caring for and valuing our foster carers is fundamental to our mission.
The following is a list of some of the support services we provide:
- Training in Theraputic Crisis Intervention (Fostering) with regular follow-up training
- Psychological support on a needs-led basis plus additional support groups/surgeries as required
- Out of hours 24/7/365 on-call support service by our local Social Work Staff
- 14 days respite (additional respite is offered on a needs-led basis)
- Independent Children's Helpline for foster children and birth children
- Independent allegation support service to all Carers
- Monthly Carer support meetings
- The agency will endeavour, with the help and support of Carers, to ensure that all Carers have a Schedule 3 Respite Carer in place
- A published programme of regular training
- A minimum of 12 supervision visits by local Social Workers
- Additional support visits on a needs-led basis - by our approved SSW or Family Support Workers
- A minimum of one unannounced visit per annum
- One independently-led annual review per year
- Target of four regional activities per year for Carers and children, e.g., Pantomime, Alton Towers, BBQs, etc.
- Fees allowances are paid commensurate with the age and type of placement
- An annual weekend break for birth children
- Annual Carer Conference
