Carers Support - Orange Grove Fostercare.

We acknowledge from research and from our own wealth of experience that the quality, availability, and consistency of support has a direct bearing on success outcomes in foster care. One of the reasons Orange Grove Fostercare was founded was because we wanted to provide our carers with a support service second to none, and work in close partnership with them.

The needs of children in the looked after system seem to be ever more complex, and therefore arguably more difficult to live with. Here at Orange Grove Fostercare, we are proud of our reputation for creating successful outcomes for children who are placed with us, and consequently we regularly review the support systems provided for our carers. Successful applicants can look forward to the following *:

  • Training in Theraputic Crisis Intervention (Fostering) with regular follow-up training
  • Psychological support on a needs-led basis plus additional support groups/surgeries as required
  • Out of hours 24/7/365 on-call support service by our local Social Work Staff
  • 14 days respite (additional respite is offered on a needs-led basis)
  • Independent Children's Helpline for foster children and birth children
  • Independent allegation support service to all Carers
  • Monthly Carer support meetings
  • The agency will endeavour, with the help and support of Carers, to ensure that all Carers have a Schedule 3 Respite Carer in place
  • A published programme of regular training
  • A minimum of 12 supervision visits by local Social Workers
  • Additional support visits on a needs-led basis - by our approved SSW or Family Support Workers
  • A minimum of one unannounced visit per annum
  • One independently-led annual review per year
  • Target of four regional activities per year for Carers and children, e.g., Pantomime, Alton Towers, BBQs, etc.
  • Fees allowances are paid commensurate with the age and type of placement
  • An annual weekend break for birth children
  • Annual Carer Conference
